Joe is an average kid at the age of 15. He is going to a fine school, has good, reliable friends, and a good home. His life became hell after one incident. One day, while crossing the street to go to the dentist with his mother, a loud truck honks and suddenly swerves towards their direction. Joe's mother pushes Joe out of the way so Joe is able to evade the truck. However, Joe sees a full view of how his mother was hit, run over, and killed. The truck just sped off in the distance. From that day on, Joe stayed in his house for several weeks with his father, who is not the "loving" type of a father. He stays in his dark room and has not been exposed to light for several days now. He barricades his door so no one can come in. The windows are impossible to come through because he boarded them up hermetically. The only thing he does is try and find the truck driver who ran over his dead mother. Every time Joe hears the sound of a swerving of a car, or the honking of a truck he maniacally rushes towards the window and tries to pry them open. Joe sometimes even acts like a psycho trying to open the windows by getting the fire extinguisher and banging them against the window. He even causes his fingers to bleed, trying to pry the windows open with his bare hands. At night, he often stays awake all night trying to hear a swerving of a truck or a honking of a truck. He has a remnant of his dead mother, the handbag she was carrying at the tragic day, and talks to it, like it's her mother. He often soothes his "mother" by saying that they'd go to the dentist next week together, or asking her if he could get braces. What psychological disorder?

My dear lovely Joe, you are suffering from emotional outbreak that developed into delusion. Extreme violent symptoms for a 15-year old kid tells that he is very very very mad about his mother's death. What caused your depressive berserk is the betrayal of the beautiful world you believed in that turned to be actually evil, which is why you shut all doors and windows towards the outside world. You failed to get over soon because your dad obviously did not counsel you well enough about the issue, therefore, on the contrary, you developed your rage even more and it is showing abnormal reactions such as talking to a handbag. As a consequence, you are hurting yourself and also other people who love you including your mother in heaven (or hell). Therefore your mental state must be treated.
This is not a mental disorder caused by a physical cause nor it was innate. It is sudden urge of negative emotions that went over limits and went so hot that your logic evaporated. You have to 'solve' the unconscious problem you have. Accept your mother's death. First, throw away the handbag. Maybe keep the money inside but erase many traces of her that trigger the tragic accident. You can also track after the truck driver in a healthy socially acceptable way and deal him legally. You'll feel much better when you catch him and forgive him afterwards. After, meditate. What is the meaning of life? Why has my mom died in my peak of happiness? Find the answer yourself because only people who totally understand you are people who have similar experiences to you and they are rare.
Yes the answer was pretty much delusion. Letting go of the past is a great idea in this type of situation. But, I think he should meditate first and calm himself down before he meets the truck driver.
